SOS Dan Buoy
Monday 10 October 2011
It is always good to see an innovative new product that will help save lives at sea. The Australian firm, SOS Marine, have just launched what I think is a great idea. Indeed it is such a simple concept that it is surprising that no-one has come up with it before.
The SOS Dan Buoy is the size and shape of a handbag and is simply thrown towards the casualty in the water. When it lands in the water it inflates into a highly visible dan buoy which marks the casualty's position and presumably provides the casualty with some buoyancy when they grab onto it.
The product just won "best new product" at the Australian Business Awards but is unfortunately only available in the southern hemisphere at the moment.
